Members of the Alabama Supreme Court upheld previous rulings on litigation involving former Chief Justice Roy Moore on Friday.
The rulings uphold several dismissals of a defamation claim by Moore and a counterclaim against Moore by an Etowah County Circuit Judge over sexual allegations that came up during Moore's unsuccessful 2017 run for U.S. Senate. Moore has denied the allegations.
Circuit Judge Jack Meigs dismissed Moore's defamation claims against Deborah Wesson Gibson and Richard Hagedorn. He also dismissed a counterclaim by Hagedorn against Moore in November 2023.
"It was just part of a conspiracy. They started rumors," Moore said on Friday.

The Alabama Supreme Court didn't issue any opinions with the rulings on Friday and five of the justices recused themselves. Moore was suspended as Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice in May 2016 for not acknowledging the U.S. Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges decision recognizing same-sex marriages. He later ran for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions after then-President Donald Trump appointed him to be U.S. Attorney General.
