Germie Bernard has opened the season in impressive fashion for Alabama, establishing himself as a strong No. 2 option alongside Ryan Williams. Through three games, he’s recorded 15 receptions for 275 yards and three touchdowns, and he's giving God all the glory.

Coming into the season, Bernard was looked at as a second-round draft pick, but due to his early-season breakout, some NFL Draft analysts think he could work his way into the first round and maybe even the first wide receiver selected.

Bernard has shown significant improvement over the course of his career. In his first two seasons, Bernard had 41 catches for 547 yards. Last year, he finished second on the team with 50 catches for 794 yards and two touchdowns. Through the first three games of the 2025 season, Bernard has already eclipsed his touchdown output from last season with three receiving and one rushing. To go along with his four touchdowns this season, he has 15 catches for 275 yards and has been the Crimson Tide’s most consistent receiver to date.

In an interview over the summer with “The Next Round,” the veteran receiver expressed how faith plays a major role in his life on and off the field. He also discussed the reasoning behind the Bible verses that he puts on his eye black each week.

"Right now, I'm in the book of Matthew," Bernard said. "I just pray to God each week, whatever comes to You and You want me to be able to show others and lead others to You, please put that on my heart. I think He does that a lot of the time, and I'm so grateful to have that relationship with Him that I can do that."

"I just want people to know that God is a faithful God, and if you are obedient to his word and what he wants you to do with your life, you're going to be blessed. So I just pray each week and hope and have faith that he's going to be able to give me the right words to be able to express to somebody else because somebody else does need that," he added.

On Monday, he joined “The Next Round” for an interview and discussed the meaning behind his touchdown celebrations, which have been frequent so far this season. When he scores a touchdown, he drops to his knees with arms wide open and looks to the sky, thanking God for the strength he has given him to perform the way he does on Saturdays.

"I'm letting everyone know that God gets all the glory for this. He's given me the strength to catch these touchdowns."

The Crimson Tide have this week off before traveling to Georgia in a rematch of what was a thrilling 41-34 victory over the Bulldogs. Alabama fans are hoping to see Bernard celebrate multiple times in Athens on September 27.
