The Montgomery Police Department hasn’t signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to join the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit.
MACS was established by ALEA in 2024 to fight crime in the Capitol City in collaboration with the Alabama Attorney General's Office, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
A spokesperson for ALEA recently told 1819 News that the Montgomery Police Department had not yet signed the unit’s MOU.
“At this time, MPD has not signed the MOU agreement regarding MACS,” said Amanda Wasden, a spokesperson for ALEA.
