ROBERTSDALE — Baldwin County Commission candidates endorsed by the Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) spoke to voters Monday during an event in Robertsdale.

District 2 candidate Angelo Fermo said he decided to run again after losing his bid for the Alabama House in the 2022 primary against State Rep. Donna Givens (R-Loxley). He thanked ALFA for choosing candidates he believes will put their best into politics.
As a retired Homeland Security special agent, Fermo said he now has time to focus on issues he thinks are important in Baldwin County. He said after working in Washington for two years, he has learned "how the system works."
"That's what I'll bring to y'all. I've got experience in D.C., I've got experience already working on legislation with other state legislators, and I'm proud that ALFA has supported me," Fermo said.
District 3 candidate Kevin Brock was born and raised in Baldwin County. He said the county is where he learned the importance of work and integrity. Brock said he spoke with farmers ahead of the endorsement and was asked hard questions.
"I know who built this county. The farmers built this county, and it's very important," said Brick. "I want my grandchildren to be able to grow up in a county that resembles something that I grew up in. That's changing fast."
Brock said he wants to focus on protecting a developing county, farmers and families.
District 4 candidate John "Tater" Harris answered one of the most-asked questions he's received on the campaign trail: Where he got his nickname.
"I'll go ahead and tell you for those of y'all that may not know. When my mom was pregnant with me, my dad rubbed on her stomach and said, 'That's my tater in there," Harris said. "So, I've been called tater all my life."
Harris, a businessman with a background in industrial construction, said he wants to work with local leaders and lawmakers to bring big projects to the county. He said he wants to focus on the eastern and western corridors and on the people who live in the county.
Baldwin County Commission District 1 candidate Richard Cox was unable to attend the event due to a scheduling conflict. He told 1819 News he appreciates the ALFA endorsement.
The primary election will be held on May 19.
