U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) criticized left-wing The Atlantic for expressing displeasure at the ongoing success of FIFA's World Cup and glowing reviews of America from individuals visiting the country for the first time.
In a recent article by Will Oremus of The Atlantic, two foreign fans who have posted several social media videos about their World Cup experiences were accused of disingenuously praising the United States.
"Posts like Freddy's and Thora's tell a story that's flattering to Americans — that unfettered consumerism has gotten a bad rap; that, contrary to conventional wisdom, there is such a thing as American culture; that it deserves celebration, even adoration," the article reads. "But telling people what they want to hear is exactly what today's attention economy is designed to do. Algorithms don't guarantee that those posts will reflect reality. As long as the demand for the content is genuine, the supply doesn't have to be."
Tuberville was sharp in his response on Tuesday.
American Exceptionalism is REAL. And the libs are so angry that they don't want anyone to enjoy the fact that the United States is the greatest country in the history of the world...and it's not close. https://t.co/0QscIwLioj

"American Exceptionalism is REAL," Tuberville wrote on X. "And the libs are so angry that they don't want anyone to enjoy the fact that the United States is the greatest country in the history of the world...and it's not close."
