The Wedowee Police Department arrested an 18-year-old in connection to a deadly hit-and-run that happened late Saturday night.
Jackson Wyatt Pinkard is charged with manslaughter, first-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident. Authorities said he confessed to hitting two teenagers around 11:30 p.m. while traveling southbound on U.S. 431.
Jamarkus Nelson was pronounced dead on the scene near Kiwanis Park. A 13-year-old female was also hit and was transported to RMC in Anniston, then Children’s of Alabama, where she was listed in stable condition.

Pinkard's bond was set at $25,000 cash for the manslaughter charge and $20,000 for the remaining charges.
The Nelson family is holding a candlelight vigil in the Randolph County High School parking lot at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
