UPDATE: Arrest made in deadly hit-and-run in Randolph County; Victim identified
The Wedowee Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run accident that happened late Saturday night.
According to witnesses, a red Toyota truck traveling southbound on U.S. 431 hit two teenagers in the small Randolph County town. Officers were called to the scene in front of Kiwanis Park around 11:30 p.m.
Police Chief Robbie Taylor said a 15-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene. A 13-year-old female was transported to Regional Medical Center in Anniston. The girl was last listed in stable condition.
The driver of the truck continued southbound, Taylor told 1819 News. The truck likely has damage on the front and is missing the passenger-side mirror.
