The Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama (ABC of Alabama) have endorsed Caroleene Dobson in her bid for the U.S. Congress in the newly drawn second congressional district.

Dobson, a Republican, is facing off against Shomari Figures, a Democrat, in the general election on November 5.

ABC of Alabama president Jay Reed said, "Caroleene is the kind of young and forward-thinking leader that the state of Alabama needs, and our members believe she is the best person to represent their interest in Congress."

Alabama's construction industry has been plagued by increasing prices and high energy costs. According to ABC of Alabama, Dobson has made lowering prices and ramping up American energy production core tenets of her campaign.

"Caroleene has consistently shown that she understands the needs of our industry and is willing to roll up her sleeves and work towards solutions," ABC of Alabama chairman Mark Mattox said. "We are happy to endorse and support her candidacy because we believe that she represents the change that we need in Washington."

Dobson said, "The Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama is a first-class organization that does an outstanding job representing its members' interests at the state and federal levels. I am honored to have their endorsement and support."

"Over the last four years, the Biden-Harris Administration policies have fueled inflation in almost every sector of our economy. In Congress, my primary focus will be combating inflation and unleashing American energy. Our goal should not be energy independence but energy dominance," she added.

ABC of Alabama represents the state's construction industry, which creates 200,000 jobs and accounts for 5% of the state's economic output.
