Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze named the Tigers’ team captains for the 2025 season during the SEC Media Teleconference on Wednesday.
As voted on by the team, junior defensive end Keldric Faulk, senior running back Damari Alston, senior defensive back Champ Anthony and junior center Connor Lew will hold the honors this fall.
"Four very deserving guys," Freeze said. "I celebrate them, and it's a great honor. There were three other guys just a few votes behind them who were very deserving also."
Faulk, who represented the Tigers at SEC Media Days, is projected to be a first-rounder in next year’s NFL Draft. Listed as the 15th best player in college football this season by ESPN, Faulk amassed 45 tackles last season with 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
Alston, who has taken a majority of first-team reps at running back this offseason, has tallied 681 career yards with four touchdowns over three seasons. Alston and Jeremiah Cobb will look to balance out the loss of Jarquez Hunter – the program’s fourth-leading rusher.
Anthony is returning back to the gridiron after a gruesome leg injury suffered against Arkansas a season ago. He played in every game for the Tigers in 2023 and is expected to hold down a role at safety this season.
Lew, entering his third season as the Tigers’ center, was also a representative at SEC Media Days. He was a third team Preseason All-SEC pick by coaches and media and was named to the Shrine Bowl 1000 and Remington Trophy watchlists.
Auburn will kick off its season on Friday at 7 p.m against Baylor on Fox.
