Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl took to Twitter to thank a group of U.S. Senators for penning a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to "strengthen efforts to deter" the Iranian nuclear program.
A bipartisan group of 26 senators wrote to President Joe Biden this month, emphasizing that Iran should not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. Some of the letter's signatories include Democratic lawmakers who were supportive of the 2015 nuclear deal and efforts to rejoin it earlier in Biden’s presidency.
“Congress stands united behind the long held bipartisan position that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon,” the letter read. “It is crucial for your administration to remain aligned with Congressional efforts related to Iran’s nuclear program and not agree to a pact that fails to achieve our nation’s critical interests. We urge you to take meaningful steps to curb Iran’s destabilizing activities and deter the regime from pursuing this nefarious ambition any further.”
Pearl agreed with the letter and wrote on Tuesday that "Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon because they are led by terrorists!"

"Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon because they are led by terrorists!" Pearl tweeted. "Thanks to these lawmakers for telling [President Biden] to not ease sanctions and give Iran more money so they can sponsor terror, build drones for Russia against Ukraine and threaten Israel's existence with nuclear capability."
