St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell confirmed to 1819 News that Birmingham-Southern College (BSC) sophomore Colin Joshua Glover died of a heart-related issue.
The 21-year-old college basketball guard was found unresponsive in his Trussville home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022. His death has been classified as the result of natural causes.
He's remembered by the college as a "hard-working athlete" and a "tremendous student." He was on the Dean's List and was a member of the Southern Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll. His twin brother Cam was also a teammate.
The Birmingham-Southern College Athletics Department paid tribute to Glover during a game in January by raising money for the Colin Joshua Glover Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Russell said he believes Glover had a pre-existing heart condition he was being treated for, and he does not believe the death is COVID or COVID vaccine-related.
