The Baldwin County 911 Center has a new director, months after the board did not renew the contract for the former director. Two deputy directors have also been named in response to unprecedented growth in the county.

New director Kristi Stamnes has a career in public safety that spans 29 years.

"Kristi comes to us with a ton of experience in the first responder world, including leadership at 911 Centers," said Baldwin County 911 Board Chairman David Wilson. "She cares about the employees and believes in excellent customer service to our citizens as well as responder agencies. She's looking forward to spending the rest of her career working for the citizens of Baldwin County. We are excited to have her."

Stamnes started her career in Gulf Shores as a dispatcher and was most recently the acting executive director of Mobile County 911. She has also served as the Covington County 911 and Emergency Management director and the Washington County 911 director in Brenham, Texas.

"I am looking forward to working with the Board and staff of Baldwin County 911," said Stamnes. "I am grateful for the new challenges and opportunities that are ahead of me and excited to see the positive impact of working with their amazing team and other first responders of the county. "

Stamnes replaces former director Jody Smith, who was put on leave in November after the board decided not to renew his contract.

Wilson said the board recently restructured the 911 Center to handle growth and added two deputy directors. Dan Wright will serve as the Deputy Director of Support Services, and Kathryn Byrd will serve as the Deputy Director of Operations.
