U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is cosponsoring legislation to allow President-elect Donald Trump to negotiate a purchase of Greenland from Denmark.

U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) told Fox News on Monday he plans to introduce the legislation.

The bill would allow Trump to enter into talks with Denmark just after noon on January 20 when Trump will be sworn in. Greenland is located in North America but is part of Denmark.

"Not later than 5 calendar days after reaching an agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark relating to the acquisition of Greenland by the United States, the President shall transmit to the appropriate congressional committees the agreement, including all related materials and annexes," the legislation said.

Ogles’ bill is backed by Moore and nine other House Republicans, according to Fox News.

“Securing Greenland is critical to advancing America’s national security and economic interests. Four years of failed leadership under Joe Biden weakened our position on the global stage, but President Trump is once again putting America First,” Moore told 1819 News on Monday. “This legislation ensures we take bold steps to protect our future and send a clear message that the United States will lead with strength and strategy. I’m proud to support President Trump’s efforts by co-sponsoring the Make Greenland Great Again Act.”
