The 21st century belongs to those who control energy, technology and trade routes. Greenland is the intersection of all three. Ignoring that reality is a mistake we cannot afford to make. If we fail to act, we hand our future over to our enemies.

On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) weighed in on President Donald Trump’s plan to annex the Danish autonomous territory of Greenland, a move that has drawn protests and pushback.

Why is the Danish social Democrat prime minister determined to undermine a good relationship with the United States over an island in the Northern Hemisphere that’s inhabited by a population that doesn’t want to be Danish?

Things got a little testy between U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Danish Ambassador to the United States Jesper Moller Sorenson ahead of Vice President J.D. Vance and wife, Usha’s, trip to Greenland on Friday.
Even with Trump’s noteworthy “art of the deal,” U.S. ownership of Greenland will be difficult to accomplish. But the doors are open for further cooperation in trade and defense.

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is cosponsoring legislation to allow President-elect Donald Trump to negotiate a purchase of Greenland from Denmark.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently backed several of President-elect Trump’s more ambitious proposals, including renaming the Gulf of Mexico, taking over the Panama Canal, and possibly purchasing Greenland for the United States.
