U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced on Tuesday his endorsement for U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) in the upcoming GOP primary for the first congressional district.
“Since 2021, Barry Moore has been a strong voice in Congress fighting for a secure border, fiscal conservatism, and the unborn," said Cruz.
The senator added, "Barry has proven that he is not afraid to take a stand and make the tough votes. He is undoubtedly the leader Alabama's First District needs in Congress and I am proud to endorse him today."
Cruz, a 2016 presidential contender, has weighed in on races in Alabama before.

“It is a great honor to have the endorsement of fearless conservative fighter Senator Ted Cruz,” said Moore. “Senator Cruz has earned a nationwide reputation as a voice for limited government, the unborn, religious liberty, protecting our southern border, and the conservative values that make America great.”
Earlier, Moore reflected on the endorsement during an appearance on Mobile's FM Talk 106.5.
"So our good friend Senator Ted Cruz — he is rolling out his endorsement today," Moore said. "We're excited to have Ted. He said he was honored to endorse me. He knows I'm a conservative fighter. He's seen my record. We've been in a number of meetings together over the years, House Freedom Caucus, where we would work with conservative senators to try to help position policy going against [Chuck] Schumer as it left the House."
"I was so honored to get his endorsement," he added. "He's a good fight, a good friend. And he understands the conservative movement as well as anybody in the country."
