SYLVANIA — It was standing room only on Friday as U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) officially launched his campaign for U.S. Senate with a kickoff event in Sylvania.

Several prominent figures — including Mobile pastor Travis Johnson, former State Rep. Ed Harris and chair of the RNC's Youth Advisory Council Brilyn Hollyhand — voiced their strong support for Moore's senate bid, saying he's the true conservative candidate to represent Alabama and support President Donald Trump's agenda.

"This is a down-to-earth guy that all of you know, because he's not only your congressman, but he's your friend, and he's soon going to be your senator," Hollyhand said.

During his speech, Moore highlighted Trump's success so far, despite heavy opposition from the left.

"As he continued this fight, we cannot send people whom we do not know where they stand just because they have a letter by their name," he said. "We better send some people, that when the time comes, and the man's at the tip of the spear, there are armor bearers around him that will defend him… So send somebody that you know has his back."

Moore said he was not only the "most conservative member of Congress" but also the most effective.

"I need you all to stand with me. It's not going to be easy, but it is our calling," he said. "... We're going to continue to fight for [Trump], but I need you to fight for me because I can't do this without you."
