A Christian podcaster from Blountsville killed himself on Wednesday morning, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
Richard Yuhas was known for his podcast, “Renewed Mindsets.” However, the sheriff’s office knew him for other reasons.
Deputies were conducting an arrest of Yuhas on Wednesday morning for four criminal counts related to sexual contact with a child. He was charged with two counts of electronic solicitation of a child and two counts of clergy sexual contact with a child.
Yuhas was working as a volunteer substitute teacher at a church during the alleged incidents.
Charging documents state Yuhas sent text messages to a girl saying he had candy in his office. In that office, the girls’ “breasts were kissed and fondled by Yuhas. Yuhas unbuttoned her pants” and molested her on two different occasions, investigators allege.
Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon told 1819 News that deputies surrounded Yuhas’ home on Wednesday and knocked on his door. After announcing themselves, the deputies heard a single gunshot. They forced entry into the home, where they found Yuhas dead in a back bedroom.
The “Renewed Mindsets” podcast discussed “end times prophecy, biblical warnings and a call to live holy in the final days.”
