Blake Strickland recently resigned as executive director of the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama.

Board president Dr. Melodie A. Jones told 1819 News in a statement on Friday, "Blake Strickland has resigned as executive director."

"We thank him for his years of service and wish him all the best in his next chapter. As we prepare to write the next chapter for the Board of Dental Examiners, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the public and providing fair, efficient regulation of the dental profession," Jones said.

A state audit of the Board of Dental Examiners released in August found numerous instances of noncompliance with state laws and regulations.

The Board of Dental Examiners is responsible for licensure, monitoring, and ensuring the safe practice of dentists and dental hygienists in Alabama.
