On Thursday, Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham announced its senior pastor, Harry L. Reeder III, was killed in a car accident.

Briarwood Presbyterian offered their condolences to the Reeder family as well as their church family in a post on the church's Facebook page.

“It is with a deeply heavy heart that I communicate to you that our Lord has called Pastor Reeder home through a car accident. Please pray for Cindy, Jennifer, Ike, Abby and their entire family as well as our staff and church family as we all grieve this tremendous loss together," read the post. “But we do not grieve without hope because we know our pastor is with His Savior and has been received by grace with - ‘Well done My good and faithful servant.’”

Briarwood is known as the birthplace of the Presbyterian Church of America and has launched churches, schools and ministries worldwide. Reeder joined Briarwood in 1999.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Reeder hosted a podcast, "Today InPerspective With Harry Reeder," in which he discussed religion and current events in the world.
