U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) were on FNC's “Fox & Friends” Monday as part of a media tour on their new bill to protect IVF nationwide. However, former President Donald Trump became the topic as he spoke outside of a New York courthouse about his trial.
The president said he was supposed to be participating in campaign activities but instead has been sitting in a “freezing cold courtroom for the last four weeks.”
Britt reacted to the trial, saying the criminal charges were only for political purposes.
“There is no crime here,” Britt said. “And at the end of the day, what we know is that if they will do this to the President of the United States, former president, they'll do it to you. This is a political prosecution that is meant to keep him off the campaign trail because people in America want more of Trump's policies. They want to put them back in the White House.
“And this is their attempt to try to sideline him and they're just not going to do it," she added.
Cruz said if the jury follows the law, Trump will be acquitted. He said that even if Trump is convicted, the conviction would be appealed, and Trump would win.
