After avoiding the press throughout most of her presidential campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris will step in front of the camera tonight as she debates former President Donald Trump on ABC for the first and only time before the November election.

Unlike Trump's debate against President Joe Biden, which drew bipartisan praise for its even-handed moderation, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) doesn't expect ABC's sympathetic moderators will force Harris to answer tough questions about her lack of policy plans and spotty record in office.

"It's sad because the American people are about to elect the next Command in Chief. We need a Commander in Chief that will have a secure border, that will allow our dollar to go further. That will actually govern in a way that creates peace through strength and that is President Donald Trump," Britt said.

"They are not making Kamala Harris answer for any of the failed policies of which she has helped enact over the last four years. They are not making her answer for the fact that she is being dishonest to the American people every time she does open her mouth about these policies and she changes direction, and we need some answers. We need somebody to dig in and get to the truth of that and that's their job tomorrow, but unfortunately, that's likely not what we'll see."
