U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is joining the vast majority of Alabama politicos in taking a victory lap after the successful election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States.

Trump not only swept the state of Alabama in Tuesday's election but also won decisive victories in swing states nationwide, successfully securing his second term as president.

Alabama's state and federal GOP lawmakers were swift to celebrate the victory, proclaiming a bright future for the state and country.

Wednesday morning, Britt released a jubilant statement expressing hope for the nation's future with a secured Senate majority for the GOP and a possible House majority as well.

"Tuesday was a tremendous victory for our nation," Britt said. "Working with President Trump, a Republican Senate majority is ready to deliver real results and achieve commonsense solutions for the American people. I'm looking forward to getting to work and putting America back on track. Together, we will secure our southern border, grow opportunity and prosperity for hardworking Americans, unleash U.S. energy dominance, restore peace through strength, and put our families back in the driver's seat. I am confident our best days are ahead of us."
