U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) slammed Democrats and California's failed leadership on Sunday as violent, fiery riots raged in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Rioters against Immigration and Customs Enforcement deporting criminal aliens stormed the streets Friday, waving foreign flags and obstructing traffic. Things soon escalated Saturday and Sunday to throwing bricks at ICE vehicles and setting cars on fire, prompting President Donald Trump to send in the National Guard and have a contingent of U.S. Marines on standby.

"While Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass refuse to act as dangerous, violent rioters attack ICE officers, President Trump is stepping up to protect these hardworking men and women," Britt posted on X. "It's simple. Democrats want open borders, Republicans stand for law and order."

Britt repeatedly called out the left for defending the riots, which failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris referred to as "overwhelmingly peaceful" despite the property damages and clashes with law enforcement.

"Democrats and left-wing media figures are defending this lawless activity, as vehicles burn, ICE officers are assailed by mobs, and roads are swarmed," Britt said. "All in the name of open borders and keeping dangerous criminal illegal aliens roaming American streets."

"Why do the State of California and the City of Los Angeles want these dangerous criminal illegal aliens freely roaming their streets? And why are protestors rioting in the streets on their behalf? The Trump Administration is enforcing the law to keep American families safe."
