A Mobile Airport Police Officer was arrested last week after Daphne Police said he was caught "masturbating" in public.
Danny Bell, a former captain at the Daphne Police Department, was taken into custody on Tuesday, September 20, around 10 p.m.
Investigators told 1819 News that two women called the police separately, stating that a man was standing across the street from a gas station on Main Street, pleasuring himself.
Daphne Police Cpl. Jason Vannoy said officers responded and took Bell into custody on an indecent exposure charge, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.
Although an attorney for Bell told Mobile TV's Fox 10 there was no way the women could have seen his client from that distance in the dark, Vannoy said Bell matched the suspect's description.
"They were both there and one of them was watching him the whole time and actually pointed him out to the officer that responded," Vannoy explained. "The other actually gave a very clear description of him."
Bell was separated from the city of Daphne, where he was a police officer, in May of 2014 after being arrested on a domestic violence harassment charge. He had been with the department for nearly 20 years at that time.
