People in South Alabama are coming together in honor of Charlie Kirk, founder and CEO of Turning Point USA. Kirk was gunned down while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Community gatherings are planned in his remembrance for Friday in Mobile and Saturday in Foley.
The Mobile vigil will be held at Hackmeyer Park at 7 p.m.
“This is not about sides or politics,” the organizers stated. “Our country desperately needs healing and prayer. If you feel the same, please come stand with us.”
Organizers said there will be a prayer for the nation’s future.
In Foley, a candlelight vigil will be held on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heritage Park. “United in Prayer for America” will include prayer and music in honor of Charlie Kirk, the nation, leaders and neighbors.
American Legacy, “The Trump Store,” and Beach Dog Events are hosting the Foley vigil.
Participants in both vigils are asked to bring their own candle.
President Donald Trump has plans to posthumously honor Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
