Caroleene Dobson, the Republican nominee for Alabama's second congressional district, announced on Thursday she raised about $527,000 in the second quarter of 2024.

The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) report filed by Dobson's campaign reflects contributions totaling $527,230.64. According to a campaign news release, this total places Dobson among the top 10 non-incumbent GOP candidates running for Congress.

"Considering the federal fundraising limits that are in place and the fact that I have never run for office, raising more than $527,000 in such a short period is an incredible achievement, and it offers strong evidence that voters want to put our country back on the right track," Dobson said. "The citizens of Alabama's Second Congressional District need a representative who will stop runaway inflation and sticker shock in the grocery aisles, end the flood of illegal immigration at our borders, and join the fight against crime and violence in our cities, streets, and neighborhoods."

Roughly two-thirds of Dobson's contributions originated from within the district or state, with the remaining balance coming from out-of-state donors.

Among the contributors were political committees led by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).

Dobson also received contributions from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the Value In Electing Women Political Action Committee.

Dobson will face Shomari Figures, a Democrat, in the general election in November. The race is expected to be hotly contested because it is a swing district that could decide which party controls the U.S. House of Representatives.
