A prayer vigil is planned for Wednesday evening in Fairhope, and the organizer said she hopes people can come together in Christ.

Dana Jewett told 1819 News that she organized the vigil so the community could come together and honor the life of Charlie Kirk. She said as a Christian conservative, she felt it was important to be part of a nationwide revival.

“We are taking a stand on this, knowing what happened to Charlie,” Jewett said. “Our nation is in trouble, and so many people are afraid of violence, and they are afraid to stand up for conservative and Christian beliefs. But just like everything else, if others can host Pride Month or whatever, they feel free to do that, and no one is afraid to do that, but when it comes to a Christian conservative, it’s like they want us to hush up, but we are standing up.”

Pastor John Regan will deliver a message during the vigil.

The vigil will take place at Fairhope Bluff, beginning at 6:30 p.m., and is open to the public.
