Fresh off a Republican primary runoff win in a special election for House District 12 on Tuesday, a new poll shows Cindy Myrex would also be competitive in a hypothetical State Senate District 4 matchup with State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) in 2026.

According to a poll conducted Wednesday morning by Cullman Daily with 355 responses, Gudger is narrowly ahead of Myrex by a 30% to 29% margin, or 98 to 93 votes. Forty-one percent of respondents, or 131 votes, were undecided.

Other possible challengers against Gudger included in the poll were Bradley Williams, a victim services officer with the Cullman County District Attorney's Office. According to the poll, Gudger leads Williams by a 33% to 23% margin with 44% undecided.

The poll shows Gudger treading water in the favorable-unfavorable category, with 46% of respondents having a favorable view versus 41% having an unfavorable view.

Gudger was a central figure in last session's debate over Senate Bill 322 (SB322), which the Alabama Legislature passed to establish a framework to attract a resort with golf, restaurants, and other outdoor activities.

However, the bill faced opposition from some local Cullman residents. Gudger has since called for the bill's repeal.

The poll has a 5% margin of error, according to Cullman Daily. Previous polling done by the outlet on the House District 12 primary and special election was within the margin of error of the actual results.
