The city of Mobile is asking citizens to help name its first fully electric garbage truck.

The Mack LR Electric was purchased in May with $300,000 in ADECA (Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs) grant funding. That funding came from a lawsuit settlement against Volkswagen.

Mobile was the first city in the state to add a fully electric vehicle to its garbage fleet.

"This new truck is part of our continued efforts to become a more resilient city," said Mayor Sandy Stimpson.

Suggested names may be submitted through an online form. The name must be family-friendly and may not contain any inappropriate language.

The mayor's staff will review suggestions, and people in Mobile can vote on their selections.
