ALBERTVILLE — State Rep. Brock Colvin (R-Albertville) kicked off his reelection campaign Thursday night with a fundraiser event in Albertville.
More than 100 people packed into the Busted Oak Bourbon Society on Main Street to show their support for Colvin. Lieutenant Gov. Will Ainsworth, State House Speaker Nathanial Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) and House Majority Leader Scott Stadhagen (R-Hartselle) also attended the event to offer their endorsements.
"Brock Colvin is one of the shining stars, not only in the state, but the country," Ainsworth said. "What makes a good legislator? Somebody that's honest. Somebody that has integrity. Somebody that's a family man. Somebody that understands business. That's so important, right? He does all those things… He's likable, and people want to work with him, and he's great at solving problems already in a short tenure; he's been able to bring stuff home."

Ainsworth added, "His legacy is going to be, in my opinion, he'll end up being one of the best representatives this district and this state's ever seen. So, honored to endorse you, my friend."
Ledbetter encouraged everyone to vote in the upcoming elections, citing widespread low turnout in the August municipal races.
"Brock has done a tremendous job," Ledbetter said. "It was easy for me when we sat down and talked to put him on Education Trust Funds because I knew he was thoughtful. He was going to do what was right for the kids in the state, and he's going to make sure we'll put the money where it needs to go to help the most people in the state."

Despite being a freshman, Stadhagen said Colvin was the "right man for the job" to take over the role of majority whip following the departure of Rep. Randall Shedd (R-Fairview).
"We've got a Bible verse in our office, and it says, 'As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.' And that's who Brock is," Stadhagen said. "He is that scripture. He sharpens members that are around him. He sharpens his constituents. He does everything he can possibly do to be the best that he can possibly be."

Colvin highlighted several of his accomplishments during his first term, including independent pharmacies, student athletes and the Alabama High School Athletic Association, the Albertville airport, threats to farmers and managing property taxes and grocery taxes.
"I, in my heart, am still just a kid from Sand Mountain. Every time I get to walk on the House floor with our Speaker and Mr. Leader, I have to pinch myself because it's such an honor," Colvin said. "... I hope you've seen from me the last three years, and hopefully for another term if the voters allow me the opportunity to do it, is that you have a real conservative Christian fighting for you in Montgomery that's never going to go woke like we seen so many people across our country, that's going to stand up and dig his heels in and fight for you when I believe it's the right thing to do."
He added, "I still have the same fire I had four years ago when I made this crazy announcement to run for office."
