This week, Congressman Barry Moore visited the pro-life center, Sav-A-Life Troy Inc. (SALTI).
SALTI is a pregnancy resource center serving Pike County and surrounding areas.
According to the SALTI website, the center exists to offer free and confidential services to help women and their families before, during, and after an unplanned pregnancy.
“We provide compassionate supportive care, information and practical assistance in order to bring hope and opportunity to women in crisis,” the website reads.
SALTI has been a part of the Troy community since 1986, providing a place of counsel, support, education, and health to individuals and families.
Moore, a Coffee Co. native, visited the Troy center on Wednesday to speak with the staff and view the facility.
“I could not offer higher praise for the work Sav-A-Life is doing in our community to empower and serve women during and after their pregnancy,” Moore said. “At pro-life pregnancy centers, every life, born and unborn, is cared for and supported regardless of difficult circumstances. Nothing can be more impactful and meaningful than standing up for life, and I thank everyone at Sav-A-Life for being on the front lines each day of this life-saving work.”
The SALTI website claims to have served 1,375 clients and families in 2020.
359 of those were first-time clients, and only 260 had positive pregnancy tests.
Of the 260 pregnant visitors, SALTI confirmed only two abortions that were performed after their services.
SALTI does have any religious affiliations. However, they share experiences of prayer and gospel presentations to those who visit the center.
“The gospel and prayer were presented to 238 of the 359 pregnancy test visitors,” the site reads. “There were 3 professions of faith and 9 who rededicated their lives to Christ.”
“We were honored to have Congressman Moore and members of his team visit our center today and listen to our needs,” said Jane Ward, Executive Director at SALTI. “He is very familiar with pregnancy resource centers and what we do. We look forward to interactions with him and his team in the future for the purpose of making our services more effective in our community.”
