The Baldwin County Conservative Coalition sent mailers to residents of Fairhope following a tense council meeting where concerned citizens came forward about inappropriate books.

The residents asked the Fairhope City Council to ensure that books containing sexually explicit content were removed from the children's and teen sections of the Fairhope Public Library. The City funds the library and appoints library board members.

After the uncomfortable readings of several excerpts, the Baldwin County Conservative Coalition sent flyers urging the public to contact the council and tell them to protect children and "move ALL sexually explicit books to the Adult Section of the library!"

The flyer also contained a QR code that links to a petition by Clean Up Alabama, asking lawmakers to pass legislation that prevents taxpayer funds from going to public libraries that allow explicit material and radical ideologies in the children's sections.

The back of the flyer reads, "Children are NOT PROTECTED from exposure to pornographic and sexually explicit books at the Fairhope Public Library."
