House Pro-Tem Chris Pringle (R-Mobile) has qualified for reelection for the State House District 101.
Citing his record as one of the most conservative members of the Alabama Legislature, he said, "My goal is and has always been to offer conservative leadership that delivers real wins for Alabama."
When asked by 1819 News which accomplishments he's most proud of, he pointed to his long record of improving the efficiency and transparency of state government.
Pringle has repealed over 350 laws and abolished over 75 boards and commissions.
"I brought a whole new era of transparency with the Department of Public Examiners," Pringle said.
He did this by rewriting "the entire sector of the current code and gave the examiner the power to put people under oath and made it a felony to lie during an audit." His legislation also increased the fines for not turning over financial records.
Pringle returned to the legislature in 2014, having previously served District 101 from 1994 until 2002. He has served as the House president pro tempore since 2022.
"Since being elected, we've cut hundreds of millions in taxes on hardworking folks and small businesses, made consistent investments in education as well as raising the pay for educators, and we're continuing to stand up for our family values and constitutional rights," Pringle said in a post on social media.
Pringle was also the original sponsor of the "Gender is Real Legislative (GIRL) Act" in 2020, making him a leader not just in Alabama but across the nation in protecting girls' sports.
Pringle is a 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. in Communications. He is a licensed realtor with Southern Timberlands and is a licensed home building and general contractor. Additionally, he is a certified control burn specialist.
Pringle was joined by his wife, Laura, as he qualified.
