A worker at the site of the new prison under construction in Elmore County died on Tuesday.
News of the incident was first reported by Elmore Autauga News.
According to the outlet, the death occurred after the unnamed worker fell from a building under construction. The construction site is temporarily shut down while the incident is investigated.
The new 4,000-bed prison in Elmore County is projected to cost the state around $1.08 billion and is expected to be completed by May 2026.
