A protester arrested in Fairhope during the "No Kings" protest will not be in court next week after her initial appearance was rescheduled for after the first of the year.

Jeanna Renea Gamble, 62, of Fairhope, was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The arrest was videoed and shared on social media.

Police said Gamble was asked to remove her penis costume during the protest after they received complaints regarding traffic hazards. Lt. Shane Nolte said the costume was deemed obscene in a public setting. Officers said after she refused to comply, Gamble was arrested on the misdemeanor charges.

Gamble was set for an initial court appearance on November 5, but that court date was pushed back to Jan. 7, 2026, after her attorney requested more time to prepare. The defense is requesting discovery materials from the City of Fairhope.

Gamble is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Mayor Sherry Sullivan told 1819 News that Gamble’s behavior was unacceptable and that such a display would not be tolerated in Fairhope.

Indivisible Baldwin County stated the protest was peaceful until what they called a “violent arrest.” They called the arrest “indefensible, morally and legally,” stating public officials should uphold the First Amendment.
