Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is offering an elevated $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in a Thursday shooting.
Bernard Duane Montez Watts, 50, and Diandra Young Johnson, 33, were shot in the 100 block of Holley Avenue during a gathering. They were transported to UAB Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Five others were injured.
Deputy Chief of Public Safety Carlton Peeples asked the public to come forward with information.
"If you know something, say something,” Peeples stated. “Your information could help provide answers to grieving families and help prevent further violence in our community. We must come together as neighbors, families, faith leaders, community organizations and law enforcement to reject violence, support one another and choose a different path for our city."
Those with information may contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama anonymously at 205-254-7777. Anyone with information leading to an arrest is eligible for the $10,000 reward.
