The Cullman attorney accused of trying to kill her husband was granted approval for out-of-state travel for the holidays.

Cullman County District Judge James Sumerel allowed Sara Baker to travel to Chicago to visit her family for Christmas.

Baker is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, three counts of attempted murder, distribution of a controlled substance, second-degree elder abuse, four counts of solicitation to commit a controlled substance crime and second-degree domestic violence.

Investigators said Baker tried to poison her husband with fentanyl.

Baker previously served as assistant district attorney and ran as the Democratic candidate for district attorney in 2004.

Baker is considered innocent until proven guilty.
