Now, the sheriff's office has announced the arrest of Gerardo Duran Dumas, 25. Dumas was living in Crossville.

Sheriff Nick Welden said the victim was a juvenile from Madison County who had been sexually assaulted in DeKalb County.

Investigators conducted interviews and worked with the Department of Human Resources and the DeKalb County Children's Advocacy Center, leading to the arrest of Dumas for first-degree sex abuse.

Court documents state Dumas is accused of forcing his hand on the child's private area and forcing his tongue in her mouth.

Dumas was arrested and placed in the DeKalb County Detention Center on $15,000 bond. He is also being held for another agency, although the sheriff's office did not specify which agency.

"The Dekalb County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the 9th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office and the Dekalb County Department of Human Resources and DeKalb County Children's Advocacy Center for their assistance in this case," Weldon stated. "We appreciate our working relationship we have with each of them."

Tomas and Dumas are considered innocent until proven guilty.
