Democrat and Republican candidate forums for the second congressional district will air on Sunday night.
The Republican forum is being co-hosted by the Alabama Republican Party, Gray TV, and will air on WSFA and WALA at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The 2024 primary election in Alabama is on March 5. The primary runoffs are on April 16. The general election will be held on November 5.
"The Republican Party is committed to making sure the people of Alabama have the opportunity to hear directly from our candidates. Debate and open dialog are a hallmark of the American political process, and we felt it was important to host a forum for voters in the new District 2 that was redrawn by the federal court system. We are pleased to be partnering with Gray TV, and I want to thank them for their professionalism and teamwork throughout this process. They are one of Alabama's premier television outlets. This forum will give our candidates the chance to talk about the issues facing the people of District 2, and explain how conservative values will best help keep our communities safe, successful, and protected from the woke socialist agenda being pushed by Washington, DC. We know Alabama families are struggling under the policies of the Biden Administration, and we believe we must bring back fiscal responsibility, secure borders, and lower prices for the people of America. It's time to stand for the policies that made this Country great, and that is what our candidates will do Sunday night," Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl said on Friday.
Viewers will also be able to see Democrat candidates for Congressional District 2 in a forum airing on the same channels at 7 p.m.
