Dothan Police arrested former Greater Beulah Baptist Church pastor Darryl Roberts for allegedly stealing $48,000 from the church on Friday, according to WTVY.
According to the outlet, Roberts is charged with first-degree theft for allegedly stealing from the church's preschool center from April 2022 to February 2023.
Members of the Alabama Public Charter School Commission also revoked the charter of the Barnabas School for Leadership in Dothan on Monday. Roberts founded the school.
School officials previously said the school would open in August 2023 and serve 350 students. However, due to financial and staffing problems, the school never opened months later.
