After weeks of rainfall and some isolated flooding events across the state, some parts of Alabama are no longer experiencing drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Conditions have improved, with some areas moving from exceptional to moderate drought. Jefferson County and areas of northwest Alabama have improved to no drought conditions.
Just last month, many southern counties were in an extreme drought, and the Alabama Forestry Commission issued a statewide fire alert.

As of this week, 16.7% of the state is clear of any drought, 83.3% is abnormally dry, and 40.1% is in a moderate drought.
Scattered rain and storms are expected throughout the state this weekend.
