ORANGE BEACH — Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall told 1819 News he has been monitoring immigration issues in places like Sylacauga and Athens.

While communities are being impacted by Biden administration policies, Marshall said attorneys general across the nation have a responsibility.

"Our work has been basically from the beginning of the Biden administration," Marshall said. "We've challenged multiple executive orders, we've challenged changes to programs that otherwise Congress has not authorized and I think AGs, we're the leaders in calling for Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas to be impeached and so to the extent there are tools in our toolbox."

While he vowed to continue aggressively opposing dangerous policies, Marshall said the people also have a responsibility.

"This is also an example of where elections matter," Marshall told 1819 News. "And when you see an administration use a parole program completely contrary to its purpose, then I think that's one thing that folks ought to consider when they cast their vote in November."

Marshall spoke to the Alabama Board of Registrars last week and reminded them his office will employ tools to help them protect election integrity as more migrants move to the state.
