It may have seemed like a smart opportunity. Quiet Sunday afternoon in out-of-the-way Fultondale. One store clerk on duty (a female at that).
So, Adolph Grimmett executed his plan to steal beer.
His plan did not work.
The Fultondale Police Department report tells the story.
“On Sunday, Adolph Grimmett, 61, of Birmingham, thought it was a good idea to come to Fultondale to steal beer from a local business,” Fultondale PD said.
“Grimmett was confronted by a female clerk, and he assaulted her in an attempt to flee,” according to police. “He discovered that this was a major mistake when the female clerk fought back.”
“When we arrived on the scene, the clerk was sitting on top of the offender,” police said.
Grimmett was charged with third-degree robbery.
Can you imagine Grimmett’s explanation to his friends and family about what happened?
No one can ever say that the clerk sat down on the job.
