The Daphne Fire Department celebrated the unveiling of the county's first Safe Haven Baby Box on Tuesday.
The baby box was installed at station #5 on Milton Jones Road.
The box and 17 others across the state were made possible through 2023 legislation by State Rep. Donna Givens (R-Loxley), allowing mothers to surrender their infants for up to 45 days after birth, with no questions asked.
Founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, Monica Kelsey, has brought the devices to 15 states. She said she has made it her life's mission because she was abandoned two hours after birth in 1972.
Foley is expected to be the next Baldwin County location to install a box.
