The City of Dothan celebrated the opening of a Safe Haven Baby Box on Friday.
The City of Decatur took a step closer to becoming the second city in Alabama with a Safe Haven Baby Box. The city of Madison was the first in the state and has already successfully received two babies, with the first just 12 days after installation. The Decatur approved initial set-up costs for the Safe Haven Baby Box.
State Rep. Donna Givens (R-Loxley) is celebrating the final passage of a bill allowing fire stations and medical centers to install “baby boxes” for mothers to surrender children within 45 days.
