The Florence Police Department said the man who was shot and stabbed Tuesday night is now responsive but remains in critical condition.

Jason Montalto, a 27-year-old from Florence, was shot once and stabbed once in the neck and head area while working at American Wholesale Tuesday evening.

Police responded around 9 p.m. and arrested Donivon Forbes. Other officers provided medical aid to Montalto, who was then transported to Vanderbilt UMC.

Forbes was charged with attempted murder and is currently being held on a $60,000 bond.

Thursday, police said they had no further update on the ongoing investigation, although they confirmed Montalto is responsive.
