The special Republican primary runoff election for House District 27 is a week away, and candidate Alan Miller just picked up a key last-minute endorsement.

On Monday, former fellow HD27 candidate Bill Stricklend announced his endorsement for Miller, an Arab City councilman, over his opponent, former Secretary of the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education Jeana Ross.

A former Marshall County Commissioner, Stricklend came in a distant third in the primary election on April 2.

“I cannot think of a more qualified candidate than Alan Miller, who has spent the past few decades serving the people here in District 27,” Stricklend said in a statement. “Alan is a public servant, not a politician. He is exactly who we need representing us in Montgomery.”

Stricklend asked his supporters who voted for him in the primary to get behind Miller in the runoff.

“Alan’s positions are very similar to the issues I ran on. That’s why I’m asking the 532 people who got out and voted for me on April 2nd to get out and support Alan Miller on April 30th for the runoff election,” Stricklend said. “Alan Miller has my complete and total endorsement. He is hardworking, personal, and will not back down on his word.”

Stricklend is the first public figure to officially endorse Miller in the runoff election for HD27, which is set for Tuesday, April 30.
