Garrett Dixon officially announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination in State House District 38.
This seat was previously held by State Rep. Debbie Wood (R-Valley), who recently resigned her House seat.
Governor Kay Ivey has set the special primary election for Tuesday, October 21, 2025; the special primary runoff, if necessary, for Tuesday, November 18, 2025; and the special general election for Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
"I have lived in District 38 my entire life. I am a husband and father who is concerned about our state's future, and I refuse to sit on the sidelines," Dixon said. "I know the challenges facing our rural families and towns because I live them every day, and rural communities need a voice in Montgomery."
Dixon's family settled in Salem over 160 years ago.
"I am not a politician. I am a businessman and farmer who wants to serve my community and deliver real results for the people of District 38. I plan to take our small-town conservative values and business approach to Montgomery," Dixon said.
Dixon graduated from Smiths Station High School and Auburn University in 2014. He and his wife are parents to two children and are members of First Baptist Church of Opelika.
"I am going to unapologetically fight for District 38 and the conservative values that matter to people in our district," Dixon said.
