ORANGE BEACH — A hammerhead shark washed up Thursday on the shores of Orange Beach.

Leroy Scarborough posted a photo on Facebook saying, "Just another day at the beach."

Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon confirmed the shark washed up in front of Lei Lani Condominiums. He said it was 14 feet long.

Adult female hammerhead sharks are typically between 15 and 18 feet long, and adult males are around 12 feet long.

Experts in the field say hammerhead sharks are not typically aggressive toward humans but will attack when threatened.
