U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) slammed the Biden administration's open border policies during last week's House Committee on Homeland Security hearing. The hearing was part of the committee's impeachment proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Strong pointed out that from the fiscal year 2021 to date, Border Patrol made 41,162 arrests of illegal aliens with criminal backgrounds, which is approximately 88% higher than the combined previous four years.

The hearing featured two mothers who hold Biden and his administration's refusal to enforce the law responsible for the loss of both their daughters.

Strong asked the witness, "Isn't just one instance that an illegal alien has endangered or taken the life of an innocent American like your daughter been a wake-up call to Secretay Mayorkas and President Biden?" to which the witness answered, "Yes."

Strong, who became visibly emotional during this part of the hearing, recalled instances where an illegal alien had assaulted and/or murdered someone in his district. He pointed to the 2023 rape of a teenager by an illegal from Honduras, 2022 when an illegal raped a 13-year-old boy, and another incident in 2022 where an illegal immigrant from Mexico dismembered a woman and her child to which the only survivor was a 12-year-old girl who escaped after having to witness the horrific scene and held captive with decomposing bodies.

"How many more stories like this will it take for Secretary Mayorkas and President Biden to wake up," Strong asked.

According to a statement released by Stong's office, these impeachment proceedings follow a year-long investigation conducted by the Committee, in which it found that Secretary Mayorkas knowingly refused to enforce laws passed by Congress, resulting in the catastrophic border crisis we see today.

Strong claimed that Secretary Mayorkas not only refused to enforce the law but also refused to testify before the Committee during these proceedings and ignored requests for over 170 documents and testimony from the Committee.

Recently, the Secretary himself admitted that the administration was releasing over 80% of illegal immigrants that cross the Southern border into the U.S., despite existing laws that mandate this only be done on a "limited, case-by-case basis."

Strong said, "Secretary Mayorkas is not the solution, but part of the problem. He created this circus and failed to follow U.S. law. Eight-point-five million illegals have crossed the southern border from 160 countries."

Strong recommended reinstituting the "Stay in Mexico Act," saying, "I don't care which president was there. Whether it was Obama or whether it was Trump, the Stay in Mexico Act worked."

These hearings are planned to continue until the committee votes on whether or not to recommend impeachment to the House. If it does, the whole House will be presented with evidence and vote on the impeachment of Secretay Mayorkas.
